Beginning of 3rd grade year!!

Image
You are in third grade and we can't believe it! You have had to adjust to "serious" work and earning "real" grades this year, but other than occasionally rushing (and hating criticism) you are doing quite well and learning and growing. You scored extremely high in your testing this year (99th percentile) so we are excited to see all that you will learn this year!  You wanted to take a break from TaeKwondo and try baseball this year, but didn't tell us in time to sign up for most leagues. A local church had a really casual intro league, so we tried that and you really liked it and did well. We will try to do a "more serious" league this spring.  We've been having fun getting into the Fall spirit (although the picture below doesn't look like it since you were upset that you messed up your pumpkin painting). This weekend was Fall break and we've stayed home, played games, done crafts and spent quality time as a family. We will cherish the ...

2024-2025 Catch Up

Image
This is a very late update of this year because we’ve been busy living and having a great time! You are on the student council at school and make announcements in the town hall each month to your entire grade! You are doing really well and scoring above grade level on all your tests. You just took the last test to be placed in gifted and we will know those results this summer. We are proud of your hard work no matter what!  You did Taekwondo at Croo ked Creek Park, earning a yellow belt, but then took a break to play basketball this winter. You did awesome and enjoyed it so much more than last time! You scored some and were actively engaged in the game for the most part (you still love the spin move though!) After basketball season was over you went back to Taekwondo, but at a new place. It’s definitely stricter and more challenging than your previous place, but you are settling in and finding your way.  We enjoyed a good football season at Clemson, sliding down hills a...

Summer 2024

Image
You finished 1st grade strong and love math and science and reading. This summer you’ve read the Dragon Master’s series and all things Titanic. We’ve had fun going to the library while sissy plays tennis. You tried tennis a couple of times, but you didn’t want to continue. You had fun at basketball camp and your taekwondo continues i n the summer. You are currently a yellow belt after your last test! The summer is winding down and you will be a 2nd grader soon. It’s hard to believe!

Catch up post Andrew

Image
Catch up Post Andrew Time has slipped away but only because we’ve been having so much fun. I have not posted in a very long time, so I am going to do a quick catch up post and then hope to stay more up to date moving forward.   We spent Fall break at Legoland in Florida with Grandmommy and Grandaddy and had a blast. The rides were a little too small for Maddy and a little too big for you, but everyone was still able to find something they loved. The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed the time! You had a great start at your new school! I can’t believe you are in the first grade! Your teacher double checked the records that were sent from your old school and retested you, but they were right. She just couldn’t believe how advanced you are, but we weren’t surprised. At your conference this year we were told that you are also a good classmate, a helper and a good listener. We are so very proud of you and can’t wait to see what you do in the future! Thanksgiving was fun this year...

Spring update

Image
It is already springtime and it’s so hard to believe! You have done really well as a kindergartner! You are reading well above grade level and are so curious and interested in everything! You have been well-behaved for the most part, but have had just a couple of reminders from your teachers to have self-control during down time. We are so proud of you overall! You just had your Kindergarten musical and you had a speaking part that you rocked! We also just moved into our new house in Chapin and are loving it! After only being in the house for a week, we took a spring break trip to see Grandmommy and Grandaddy and had a great time riding bikes, swimming, and sightseeing around Central Florida. So much to be thankful for and so much fun stuff happening! Now, bring on summer!!!

Grammy

Image
We lost Grammy this year on January 20. She was diagnosed with leukemia and had a short battle; her body was just too weak to fight and handle the chemotherapy. Grammy had a tough time the last few years of her life with failing health and memory issues from a previous brain aneurysm. We are so sad to see her leave this earth, but we are happy that she is at peace with God. You kids were so great during this tough time, and really helped us (especially Daddy) get through it. Your Grammy loved you so much and is so proud of you two and will be watching over you as a special angel! We want you to remember her funky spirit and loving personality. We want you to think of her when you draw and paint like she loved to do. We want you to have your own original style like her. We want you to make the best out of situations that are tough like her and live for the moment! Most of all, we want you to remember that because of Jesus she is in heaven and we will one day see her again.

Basketball

Image
This was the first year you tried basketball through Riverland Hills Baptist Church (our church league is only for older kids). Dad was your assistant coach and Mr. Luke was your coach. You had a great time with your team and were a good sport. Basketball is probably not going to be your forte, but man did you perfect the spin move this season (not always near the ball or team, but we enjoyed watching it so much anyways!) When we asked you if you wanted to play next season, you said, “No. I want to do Karate like I’ve been telling you people for 2 years!” We died laughing! Message received, sweet boy! You start Karate this summer!
